The Classic Laddie by Bruichladdich (Review)

The Classic Laddie by Bruichladdich (Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Unpeated TastingNotes BarleyMania)

Not only do the bottles of Bruichladdich have one of the most beautiful designs I have ever come across, but also do they contain very great whisky. The unpeated Classic Laddie feels like a day out at the beach, carrying some sweets and fruits with you. For me personally, however, this whisky will also always be connected to Christmas. When I started developing an interest in whisky, I received a bottle of The Classic Laddie as a Christmas present from my parents-in-law. Well, actually my wife chose and ordered it for them, but never mind. This fact makes The Classic Laddie a whisky that accompanies me throughout all seasons. I love drinking it in the beginning of the year in anticipation of warmer days. Then, I obviously enjoy its summerly notes when it gets really hot outside. And finally I like to pour myself a dram of The Classic Laddie during the winter months, when I am in a Christmas mood and dream of receiving more amazing presents like this.

Eye: Golden grainfields in autumn.
Nose: Sweet notes of sugar and honey. After a few minutes in the glass, there are also floral and minty notes to discover. Finally, a light sea breeze carries a discreet aroma of freshly sliced apples.
Palate: The sea breeze you had in your nose grows stronger now. It brings along a decent saltiness as well as sweet toffee and oaky notes. In the background, there are also yellow plums, quinces and green grapes.
Finish: Medium long and warm with a nice mixture of saltiness and green grapes.
