This might be the first time you will hear of Indri Single Malt Whisky from India; but it will certainly not be the last! There is a good reason why many drammers over here will most likely not have stumbled upon this brand before: For the past ten years, the Indri Distillery at the (more…)

Kiel Whisky Fair 2022 (Fair)
One after another, my favorite whisky fairs are now reawakening from their pandemic-caused hiatus. At the end of 2021, I already had the pleasure of visiting Bottle Market in Bremen and Bordershop Whisky & Ron Festival in Puttgarden again. And this month I got to return to (more…)
“Bourbon & Rye” Virtual Tasting with Lux Row Distillers (Tasting)
The regular BarleyMania readers will know it: I am mostly a malt whisky guy; bourbon and rye – though fantastic categories – only find their way into my glass occasionally. Against this background, I was extra-happy when spirits distributor Prineus GmbH invited me (more…)
Bottle Market 2021 – Whisky and Spirits Fair in Bremen (Fair)
Located at Hall 7 of Messe Bremen, Bottle Market is one of Northern Germany’s biggest whisky and spirits fairs. And at least in my humble opinion it is also one of the absolute best! The three-day event is centrally located in direct vicinity of Bremen’s main train station. (more…)
“Danish Whisky” Tasting with Fary Lochan & Prineus GmbH (Tasting)
Started in 2009, Fary Lochan is Denmark’s first distillery that was custom-built from scratch for whisky making. “Deconstruction” Whisky Tasting with Lindores Abbey Distillery & Prineus GmbH (Tasting)

Bottle Market 2019 – Whisky and Spirits Fair in Bremen (Fair)
Back in 2015, Bremen’s Bottle Market was the first-ever whisk(e)y fair I attended. Since then I continued to go there four more times, not missing a single instalment. It is safe to say: Bottle Market is one of my favorite dramming events of the year. (more…)
Compass Box “Myths & Legends” Tasting at Christiansen’s (Tasting)
Normally, Gerd Schmerschneider makes a living as the German importer of brands like Port Askaig, The English Whisky Company and others. During his traditional pre-Christmas tasting at Christiansen’s on November 4, however, he took over another profession (more…)
Prineus Whisky Tasting with Compass Box & Co. (Tasting)
Though the topics were always great, I did not make it to most of the tastings that took place at the Christiansen’s bar in Hamburg this year. Therefore, I am all the more happy that I got to attend the venue’s traditional pre-Christmas event with Gerd Schmerschneider (more…)
Kiel Whisky Fair 2018 (Fair)
Last year I visited Kiel Whisky Fair, one of Germany’s longest-running spirit exhibitions, for the first time. Since I really enjoyed the small event’s intimate atmosphere, excellent line-up and nice location in the 4-star Steigenberger Conti Hansa hotel, my girlfriend Dini and I returned (more…)
