Great news for all whisky-lovin’ movie buffs and movie-lovin’ whisky buffs: “The Water of Life – A Whisky Film“ is having its virtual premiere this month. The six-day event centers around Burns Night, which is held on January 25 in honor of Scotland’s national bard Robert Burns. On each day, the movie is shown together with a Q&A session with special guests such as Jim McEwan (Ardnahoe Distillery), Rachel Berrie (Brown-Forman), Stephen Rankin (Gordon & MacPhail) or Liam Hughes and Shug McMurray (Glasgow Distillery). Interested drammers can buy tickets for the event online via the movie’s website, starting at US-$ 15 for the “Opening Night Ticket”.
Filmed over two years in six contries across three continents, “The Water of Life – A Whisky Film” tells “a story of rebels and alchemists who, against all odds, managed to breathe life back into a stagnant industry and put it on a path to become the global titan it is today”. The documentary runs for 88 minutes and features the whisky mavens mentioned above as well as many other industry greats like Chris Leggat (Douglas Laing), Iain Croucher (North Star), Billy Walker (The GlenAllachie) or Kelsey McKenchnie (The Balvenie).
Judging by the trailer, which you can check out above, the documentary promises to be great fun and full of interesting insights, stunning shots and – of course – amazing drams! I for one am really curious to watch it in its entirety!
