When I visited the Ben Nevis whisky bar in Glasgow a few months back, the beautiful releases of young independent bottler North Star directly caught my eye. Shining in jazzy colors, the six bottlings from the company’s kick-off series 001 were almost impossible to miss (more…)

Glen Elgin 20yo “Tropical Fruit Banquet” by Wemyss (Review)
Most of the time, composing tasting notes for a single cask bottling by Wemyss Malts is pretty easy. Cause thankfully the family-owned independent bottler has a habit of picking very telling names for its whiskies that usually do the character of the associated spirit great justice. (more…)
Springbank 13yo by Whiskykanzler (Review)
During my last stay in Berlin I visited the famous whisky pub Offside in the district of Wedding. Not only did I have a few very nice whiskies there, but I also persuaded the barkeeper to pass the almost-empty bottle of this Springbank 13yo on to me (more…)

Exactly one week ago, Tobi introduced you to the three “exotic” releases of North Star Spirits’ recently released series 002, namely a blend, a bourbon and a sherry. This week we got our hands on a trio of their new single cask Scotch whiskies. (more…)

Not sure about you guys, but I tend to become a little reckless after a full evening of dramming at a whisky gathering. So before I left Kiel Whisky Fair in early May of this year, I went to the booth of The Whisky Chamber and bought this Cambus 25yo without even trying it. (more…)
Heaven Hill 14yo Caribbean Cask by M.O.S. (Review)
